2024 Kubernetes Cost Benchmark Report
Uncover Kubernetes cost-optimization trends, bridge the gap between provisioning and actual CPU/memory utilization in 4,000 clusters, and get actionable tips to avoid overspending.
*Based on our analysis of 4,000 clusters running on AWS, Azure, and GCP between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023, before they were optimized by our Kubernetes automation platform.

Take a look inside
- Only 13% of provisioned CPUs are utilized.
- Merely 20% of provisioned memory is utilized.
- Utilization levels vary across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Learn what causes overspending, avoid the pitfalls, and cut your cloud costs.
Methodology
Data source
This year, we expanded our analysis to also look into CPU and memory utilization, comparing provisioned, requested, and actual usage. We excluded clusters with fewer than 50 CPUs from our analysis ā they’re too small to be included in a reliable data set.
Clusters analyzed
4,000+

Clusters with
50+ CPUs

- Analysis based on 4k+ clusters with 50 CPUs or more.
- Data gathered for the time period between Jan 1 and Dec 31, 2023.
- Data from the three major cloud service providers: AWS, Azure, GCP.
