The DevOps consultancy has been aware of the need for cloud cost solutions for a long time now. Like most vendors, Develeap focused on analyzing costs, figuring out which ones were most important, and finding quick fixes or putting systems in place.
The team used an open-source tool called Karpenter to optimize EKS costs for several of their customers. While an improvement over manual optimization, it still required significant work and non-trivial configuration. Furthermore, it lacked cost visibility, which complicates ongoing work. And on top of that, Karpenter isn’t available outside of AWS.
We investigated various solutions and then came across CAST AI. We thought it was a very interesting system, very relevant to many scenarios in Kubernetes. We were impressed by it and decided to give it a test run at one of our customers – and were happy with the solution, outcomes, level of support, and communication. The CAST AI team is actively engaged in the process – from sales negotiations to platform implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
In terms of technical support, we open a Slack channel for each and every one of our customers and work together with the CAST AI engineers. Every time a technical challenge appeared, we had people from the CAST AI team join in.
